What's your Inspiration?

Inspiration. That burst of creativity that forces a reaction within the self that you MUST do something! Creative Inspirations can come from anywhere in the world. In my world of fashion, I am constantly inspired by everything thing I see.
Lately, I find myself Inspired by the trend of tribal prints that are in season this spring. I recently went on a trip to our Native American Lands... A VERY spiritual and inspirational journey. On most days I think about that trip, and our American history.

Alongside that I think about modern fashion. I am constantly inspired by the looks I see on the runways and in magazines. I love a classic chic look, but I also enjoy a relaxed feel. I live a busy city lifestyle and I enjoy the challenge everyday to make the two worlds meet.

Inspiration comes from everywhere. I hope you find something this week that inspires you!

LazyDaze

Some days you just don't have the energy or strength to muster up a stylish outfit. When days like this happen to me I try to pick something comfortable and versatile.

My first step is everyones fav! A staple pair of leggings paired with a tunic or longer over sized top. Something big and Baggy! The bigger the Better!! This is look is very comforting for days when you just want to hop back in bed.

Another trick are BIG bellbottom dance pants. Try to find a pair made of really nice quality fabric that you could possibly pull off as trousers for a classic look. Wear with a longer top ( can be fitted or not). These days you catch me in this look quite often. I live in a colder climate so I love pairing these pants with a man's cashemere oversize sweater to keep me warm and fashionable all day long.

These options are both 100% comfortable and can be dressed up or down with the perfect accessories. Adjust shoes, hat, and accessories to whatever climate you live in. If worn correctly these outfits can be ideal for any occasion.

Music Festival Fashion

It’s that time of year again… Time for Music Festivals!!!

These epic outdoor events are always set up to be a good time. Filled with great music, good friends, strong drinks, delicious food, and plenty of sunshine. The perfect set up for fun but, one misstep in the fashion department could put a huge damper on your day!

Lucky for you I am here to give you tried and true fashion tips to make sure you stay cool and look even cooler at any and all musical festivities you attend!!!

First off you need a simple yet comfortable dress (or romper). This should be an item that is flowy, comfortable, and you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Preferably with something that has plenty of pockets so you don’t need to worry about bringing along a purse. Also, when selecting your fabulous outfit, pay extra attention to tan lines.

Dress the look up with a great pair of flats or boots. I would recommend wearing a closed toe shoes that covers your feet. The grounds at these events are filthy and by the end of the day, it is scary to see what exposed toes can look like.

Accessorize your look with the #1 fashion item for festivals: A Hat!! Perfect for keeping the sun off you face and keep you looking casually chic all day.

DON’T FORGET: Which brings me to possibly one of the most important tips. Sunscreen and water. Stay hydrated and protected from the sun all day to ensure you have a great time you will always remember!!!

Going Green

If u haven’t heard by now, going green is a huge trend. So today I propose the question: Is it time to detox your wardrobe?

When most people think eco chic they thing famed designer Stella Mccartney, but what most people don’t consider are used clothes. Some of my greatest finds have been discovered at vintage and second hand stores and what better way to support mother earth than reusing what we already have.

But If vintage isn’t your thing try to find organic cotton or clothing made of natural materials that have little or no impact on our envonment. Also, now a days its more common to find faux leather and faux fur almost anywhere you shop.

This April is 22 is Earth Day. Spend this month supporting and taking care of mother earth. I challenge you to find your own eco chic style in whatever you passion may be.

The Art of Packing.

No matter where you are headed on your vacation, once you have your tickets and have booked your hotel reservation, it’s time to get working on your wardrobe. Most people over-pack, but believe me it’s not fun hauling around heavy luggage. The best way to travel is with a single carry on item that won’t get lost and that you wont have to wait for in baggage claim. Traveling with less is better!

That problem can be solved by sticking to an “unglamorous” carryon bag and packing only what you really need. For clothes, it is best to pick one color scheme for the trip. Be a ruthless editor…take ONLY a few basics. Think versatility: day to night, mix and match, keep it simple. Also, always make sure to put an extra bag inside your suitcase in case you do some shopping.

A secret must when stuffing your suitcase is to roll. Always roll your clothes if you can, it gives you so much more space. Roll up t-shirts or light sweaters and fit 5 in a baggie, then push all the air out and it becomes a little package. The same with skirts or pants and you never have to wear the same thing twice! If you’re worried about your clothes getting wrinkled, don’t be. Most hotels have steamers and you can always steam a bathroom to get your clothes wrinkle free.

The real key to packing light is to only pack three pairs of shoes: metallic heels, metallic flats because they work with any outfit also, bring a pair of walking or running shoes. For jewelry, bring beads or one bold necklace that can dress up any outfit and stick to that. Scarves and Pashminas are a must as well. Perfect for going to the beach or out to dinner. Sunglasses NEVER (EVER) leave home with out them!!!!!

Fashion From The North Pole

What is Mr Lagerfield trying to telling us now? Aside from his astounding designs as creative director of Chanel. His Fall 2010 Show seems to be directed toward the ever-growing problem of global warming. Melting Icebergs on the set. Models in HUGE wooly mammoth looking costumes. Boots included! Obvi the fur is fake, but I love that Lagerfeld- aside from his remarkable and exquisite designs- is bringing up problems and making a statement other than just fashion. If we have learned anything from Paris fashion week, its that fur is a must for fall!!! View the rest of the collection here.

Where can I buy tickets?

As a avid lover of all things Yves Saint Laurent, I got tremendously excited when hearing the news that a new exhibition was opening in Paris on March 11th. The Petit Palais (The Paris Museum of Fine Art) will be hosting 300 outfits spanning the designers 40-year career. YSL was a genius of fashion most recognized for creating the women's smoking jacket, leopard prints and women's suits. Needless to say. As an avid lover of this beloved designer. I WILL BE THERE!

That bitch has everything

Barbie. She's got it all, the man, the clothes, the Malibu beach house, and now we have one more reason to be jealous of the skinny bitch we all know and love. Tonight The Christian Louboutin Barbie Doll is for sale. Wearing an adorable khaki dress and to die for magenta thigh high fringe suede boots...the hottie looks as smoking and sassy as ever. Note...Also loving the red hair as opposed to the usual bleach blonde.

From Fashion to Film

I finally managed to find time this weekend to head to the movies and catch some of the flicks that are up for the Academy Awards this Sunday. I am still in awe of the amazing beautiful cinematography that was Tom Ford's, A Single Man. It was absolutely beautiful! Julianne Moore is to die for, Colin Firth is wonderfully elegant, and the rose gold colors that ran throughout most of the movie were just one of the obvious signs of Ford's beautiful work.

Trend Alert: Longer hemlines.

New York Fashion Week previewed us to some of the hottest trends that will be worn next fall. One of my favorites, the longer hem lines like this one by designer, Michael Kors. Expect to see skirts with hem lines ranging from just below knee all the way down to the floor. Perfect for casual or dressy and easy to wear with flats or platforms. This is a versatile comfy look that you will definitely want to get on board with.

The Runway to The Zoeway

New this season among fashion designers...putting their clothes from the runway up for sale on the internet just moments after the show. It's an effort to stay ahead of knock offs and get merchandise to the consumers asap. Though we are not sure how well this will last, here is a picture Celebrity Stylist Rachel Zoe wearing a Prabal Gurung jacket to a Marchesa fashion show just days after piece strutted down the runway. Not sure about how she got her hot little hands on this number, but make no doubt about it, she wears it flawlessly. We Die! Check out more from this hot new designer at http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2010RTW-PGURUNG/

A new way to keep your legs warm...

Fashion week is here, and while Fall's hottest trends are seeming to be warms wools and furs I can't help but obsess about these thigh high leg warmers by Alexander Wang! As a dancer myself I have always loved and worn my leg warmers with pride (both both in and out of dance class). So you better believe I will be stocking up on these sky high leggies for ultimate style and warmth this fall. Thank you, Mr. Wang, you've done it again.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Yet another reason why I LOVE the Olympics. Not only do they represent the greatest athletes and competitors in the the world, but some of the greatest fashion designers also are part of the events! Among the genius clothing creators this year are Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and Rodarte (modeled by sky high aerial skier, Emily Cook). This amazing photo was captured by Photographer, Ryan McGinley, just in time for the Vancouver games begin. With the Olympics and New York Fashion Week beginning at the end of this week, lets just say we have a lot to look forward to...
